Where Our Funding Goes


ChildPlan, Inc. helps raise money for after school activities, early childhood initiatives, parent leadership training and other programs for children ages 0- 21 and their families.

East Hartford ChildPlan, Inc. received 501 c (3) non-profit status in 2003. ChildPlan Inc. acts as a resource to the community in providing a local voice in program planning and as a fiduciary for the application for and allocation of grants. Our non-profit allocates funding to a variety of community programs that we identify as critical to strengthening our children and families. Some of the early initiatives accomplished were the development of the School-based Health Centers, a Youth Advisory Board, Family Resource Centers, and a Teen Center. Current programs, events and initiatives include:

  • Management and administration of the ChildPlan Collaborative Board of Directors, its nine committees, volunteers and staff.

  • Co- administration and fiduciary of the Community Resource Center at the East Hartford Middle School, including mentoring of the Center staff, development of policies, support to the Advisory Board, program development, and fundraising efforts..
  • Administration and implementation of the East Hartford Blueprint for Young Children.
  •  Management and implementation of ChildPlan-sponsored family events and programs, such as the Pre-school/Kindergarten Fair, Scarecrow Building Contest, East Hartford Housing Authority holiday parties and programs at their community center, CPR courses for Early Childcare Providers, Backpacks for all incoming Kindergartners and programs at the Summerfield Townhouse Complexes Community Center. For latest family events click here.
  •  Free parent programs and trainings. One to three programs are offered yearly through  funding by the EHBOE.
  • Out of School "mini" grants program. Grants are offered yearly by ChildPlan through funding by the SBM Charitable Foundation. Any organization, agency, non-profit, early childcare program or East Hartford school is invited to submit an application (provided through ChildPlan).
